What Is SpeedTestCraft?
SpeedTestCraft is a free internet speed test online and a fast network speed meter that checks your wifi or broadband connection right in your browser. One click runs a ping test, measures jitter, then tests download and upload speed using parallel transfers. No app, no sign-up, no backend of our own.
What the Results Mean
Ping (latency)
The round-trip time in milliseconds for a tiny request. Lower is better for gaming, calls and remote work.
Jitter
The variation between consecutive ping times. High jitter causes stutter in video calls and online games even when average ping is low.
Download & Upload speed
Measured in megabits per second (Mbps). Download affects streaming and browsing; upload affects video calls, cloud backups and live streaming. As a guide, about 25 Mbps handles HD streaming, 100+ Mbps suits busy households, and 500+ Mbps is gigabit-class.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is internet speed measured?
Speed is measured by transferring data between your device and a nearby server and dividing the bits moved by the time taken, reported in megabits per second (Mbps). Ping is the round-trip time of a tiny request in milliseconds, and jitter is how much that time varies.
What is a good ping for gaming?
Under 30 ms is excellent, 30-60 ms is good for most games, and above 100 ms usually causes noticeable lag. Low jitter (under 10 ms) matters as much as low ping.
How to improve Wi-Fi speed?
Move closer to the router or place it centrally and elevated, use the 5 GHz or 6 GHz band, switch to a less crowded channel, restart the router, update its firmware, and use an Ethernet cable for devices that need maximum speed.
Why is my upload speed lower than my download speed?
Most home plans (cable, DSL, mobile) are asymmetric and allocate more bandwidth to downloads. Only fiber plans are often symmetric.
Is this speed test private?
Yes. All measurement logic runs in your browser with no backend, accounts or stored results. The test only exchanges anonymous test data with a public speed-test endpoint. The page may load a third-party advertising script, which is separate from the speed test itself.
Tips for Accurate Results
Close other downloads and streams, pause VPNs, and test on Wi-Fi and Ethernet separately. Browser tests can read slightly lower than native apps on very fast (multi-gigabit) lines, so run it two or three times and compare.
